MARIPOSA COUNTY — Firefighters continued to strengthen containment lines on the Detwiler Fire today, while also dealing with slop-overs outside the lines and hot spots in the interior.
The fire is now estimated at 81,250 acres with 70 percent containment.
There are currently 4,279 personnel assigned to the incident including 343 engines, 60 water tenders, 105 hand crews, 47 dozers, 19 helicopters and air tankers as available.
A 3-acre slop-over was reported in the Mt. Gaines area just after 1 p.m. this afternoon. Firefighters had a hose lay around it and the fire contained within the hour.
Most of the fireline work is still happening on the northeast perimeter, as firefighters deal with the steep terrain in the Dogtown area.
Temperatures are expected to approach triple digits by the weekend.
Today PG&E began demobilizing their base camp at the fire and releasing some out-of-area crews. Tuesday night they restored electric service to the remaining customers who could be restored.
At 11 a.m., evacuation orders were lifted for residents only in these areas, but they remain under an advisory to be prepared:
